Cadmeo was built by two software engineers who wanted a single reliable place where developers, writers, designers, and everyday users could access free browser-based tools without sign-ups, ads, or installations.
Why we built this
Finding a simple utility online usually means hunting across half a dozen sites, each wanting an account, each wrapping the thing you came for in advertising, and each asking you to upload a file you would rather not hand over. Counting the words in a paragraph or rotating a PDF should not involve any of that.
So Cadmeo keeps all 246 tools in one place, and keeps the work on your machine. When you drop an image into the resizer or paste a token into the JWT decoder, the file and the text stay in the browser: there is no upload step, because there is nowhere for them to go. That is also why the tools keep working with a flaky connection, and why nothing you do here ends up in a log.
Where we’re headed
The plan is more depth rather than more pages. Each of the 8 categories has tools that are still missing, and specialised ones are worth more than another variation on something already here.
What decides the order is what people actually ask for, so requests carry real weight. The two commitments that will not change: the tools stay free, and they keep running in your browser rather than on a server.
