Twitter Bio Generator

Bios
  • permanently mid-project · making charts nobody asked for · DMs open, expectations low
  • chronic tab-hoarder · building small things · currently between hobbies
  • reformed perfectionist · reading too much · ask me about bread
  • professional over-thinker · learning in public · opinions my own
  • part-time optimist · writing occasionally · posts are drafts

The Twitter bio generator builds three-part bios (a trait, what you are currently doing, and a closing aside) separated by middots. Eight options in each slot give 512 combinations, and every one fits comfortably inside the 160-character bio limit.

How it works

The three-part structure with middot separators is the platform convention, and it works because each fragment can be scanned independently. The register is deliberately dry: the format punishes earnestness.

  • Trait: a self-description with some self-deprecation, such as "chronic tab-hoarder".
  • Doing: what you are currently working on, phrased as an activity rather than a title.
  • Closer: an aside that undercuts the first two, such as "opinions my own" or "usually wrong, occasionally useful".
  • Results run from about 70 to 110 characters, leaving room to add a link or a location.

chronic tab-hoarder · building small things · usually wrong, occasionally useful

About 78 characters, roughly half the 160 limit, leaving room for a link or a pronoun.

all three longest options

Around 110 characters: still 50 short of the limit

Even the longest combination leaves headroom, which is deliberate. A bio filling the whole field truncates awkwardly in some views.

Frequently asked questions

How long can a bio be?

160 characters. Every combination here comes in between roughly 70 and 110, leaving room to add a link, a location or pronouns without hitting the limit.

Why the middots instead of line breaks?

Because bios render as a single line in many contexts (hover cards, mobile lists, embedded timelines) where line breaks are collapsed. Middots survive that and are the established convention.

Why is the tone so self-deprecating?

Because the format rewards it. The bio field is small and public, and an earnest description of your own excellence reads badly at that length. Understatement is easier to get right and easier to edit into your own voice.

How is this different from the LinkedIn headline generator?

Different structure for a different audience. LinkedIn headlines are role, focus and industry, aimed at being found in a professional search. These are trait, activity and aside, aimed at being read once by someone deciding whether to follow you.
